Mugshots & Musings

Mugshots & Musings– is a stream of quick thoughts, ideas, and behind-the-scenes moments from the studioโ€”kind of like a potterโ€™s feed. No long reads, just raw creativity, kiln-side updates, and a peek into the process. Jump in, scroll through, and feel free to leave a comment!

  • Earth Tones
Rooted in Nature, crafted with care.
  • More Rain
We lost power yesterday due to the coming storms, though. I am learning so much in my class, and my cylinders are looking much better. Amy Palatnick is helping me so much!
  • Website Update
I just finished updating the website. I hope it will clear up some clutter and make things easier to read and see. I have a lot of mugs to handle and a bunch of bowls to throw.
  • Ice and Snow
I forgot I must take my wife to a dentist appointment after my 12-hour night shift at the paper factory. We made it on time, and we both got our cleanings. We then waited some and went out to eat. We both had a good laugh about our date day at the dentist. We both thought we might be getting old. Tonight I’ll be making work for The Bunny Trail for my Spring Show 2025! March 7th -9th
  • Up Early Writing the Dailies
There’s nothing like having a coffee and listening to the rainfall on the roof while I write about the pots before making them in the studio. I have a busy day today. I’m prepping for the Spring Show 2025, March 7th-9th on The Bunny Trail!
  • Enjoying my Saturday!
Posted a newsletter in the blog section. It looks like we are in for getting more snow here. I need to make a lot of pots this 3-day weekend. Happy Presidents Day!
  • Pottery and Work
Today I wrote about work and pottery. Tomorrow on my day off I may need to do a firing.
  • High Winds
Had high winds today. I have a glaze refire to do and also a bisque to fire for the Valentine Vases. I also need to make work for the Bunny Trail from March 7th to 9th
  • Cup Entry
I submitted work for a call for entries. I hope I get in the show. The photos were not done all that well, but the entry was free. I usually don’t participate in these types of shows, but I thought I would give it a shot and try something new. Here are the cups I entered.
  • Create a Social Feed
Here is a fantastic post on creating a feed! Following the directions was quite simple and easy to do. I made one for my site here! Hope you enjoy it! Thanks Seth! UPDATE YOUR WEBSITE AS OFTEN AS YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA by Seth Werkheiser Build a body of work that anyone can see Read on Substack
  • Freezing Rain
Sleet and freezing rain here at the pottery today! Hope to get some work done in the studio. It’s been so cold but things seem to be drying fine so far!
  • My Own Social Feed
Trying out this new pottery feed. I plan to do short updates, just like on social media sites here! I hope you enjoy them!
